Salt Lake Community’s Healthy Food Initiative

COVID-19 has impacted our world in extraordinarily negative ways. With almost 40 million jobs lost in the U.S. in just two months, housing is at risk and food insecurity has skyrocketed. But, like in most crisis situations, there are often silver linings. Early in the crisis, a small group of people from Sentry Financial, the Lightspark Foundation, and Pulp Lifestyle Kitchen began a conversation about how to address the food insecurity problem that so many members of our community face on a daily basis. That conversation quickly evolved into an action plan for The Salt Lake Community Healthy Food Initiative, which consists of three pillars: restaurants preparing food, organizations serving under-resourced groups, and community members providing funding.
